Also, it’s hard to find time to relax and rejuvenate our bodies on a regular basis. The only way to go is to make it a part of what we do everyday.

Here’s a simple recipe of a homemade body scrub – that you can use when you take a bath everyday. It’s rich with minerals that heal and repair your body everyday. At first glance you may find some of the ingredients cumbersome to gather, but you can rest assure that once you’ve gone through the process one time, you’ll keep going back to it with ease.

Ingredients

  • Epsom Salt/Sea Salt/ Himalayan Salt: has loads of trace minerals that helps relieve general body pain & replenishes mineral levels in the body.
  • Extra virgin Coconut Oil (Hero Ingredient): gives glowing skin, softens feet, has anti-bacterial & bugs repellent properties, heals damaged tissues & infections, prevents wrinkles, sagging skin, skin dryness, flaking & helps reduce cellulite.
  • Aloe Vera: gets absorbed quickly and goes straight into the blood stream, heals skin burns, scars, dryness & makes skin beautiful.
  • Lavender (Hero Ingredient): is a very versatile herb. It’s great for all skin types & safe for babies too. If you face any skin issue, lavender is the go to herb. It has anti-inflammatory & insect repellent properties. You can use Lavender to moisturize dry skin, heal minor burns, minimize the appearance of scars, relax your muscles, and even enjoy it as a herbal tea to soothe yourself. Stock up on Lavender as an essential oil and the dried flowers – you’ll find it useful at all times.
  • Honey: is a great moisturizer especially for dry/damaged skin, it’s a great face mask and can be used daily.
  • Orange, Peppermint and Rosemary Essential Oil blend: to add anti-bacterial, skin cooling and muscle relaxing properties.

Recipe:

  • 1/3 cup Epsom Salt/Sea Salt/Himalayan Pink Salt
  • 2-3 tbsp Extra Virgin Coconut Oil/cold pressed Almond or Jojoba Oils
  • 1-2 tsp fresh Aloe Vera pulp
  • 1 tbsp fine ground lavender flowers / rose / calendula petals
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 8 drops pure orange essential oil
  • 5 drops pure peppermint essential oil
  • 2 drops pure rosemary essential oil

Most of these ingredients for the DIY scrub are easily available at a nursery, a chemist or on Amazon.  The Aloe Vera pulp can be extracted from an Aloe Vera leaf by slicing it through the center and scooping the pulp out. I strongly recommend that you also get an Aloe Vera plant at home – it has some amazing benefits and is useful all year round.

Blend all of these ingredients together until they form a paste, put in a jar and start using. Remember since this includes salts it will have a grainy texture, and that is completely OK. Since this is an all natural, preservative free scrub, it’s shelf life is relatively short (about one week). In peak summer it’s best to refrigerate especially so it can retain its solid structure and feel. You now have for yourself any any time use homemade body scrub.
